What’s on in County Durham this Easter?

Easter Sunday this year is on April 21st and there are some cracking activities over the bank holiday weekend and the school holidays. Come and discover lots of egg-cellent fun for all the family with our handy what’s on guide.

Whether you are looking for a family egg hunt, a chance to get your face painted or afternoon tea, County Durham has it all. So you really can put all of your Easter eggs in one basket with so much to choose from!

Tanfield Railway Easter Eggstravaganza

Visit the Easter Bunny as he lays on a variety of children’s activities including an egg hunt and arts and crafts. Each child will receive a free small egg!

Easter Island Creations at The Witham

On Easter Sunday in 1722 a Dutch explorer arrived on an island covered in enormous, unusual carved sculptures. The island then became known as Easter Island!

On Wednesday April 10th at The Witham in Barnard Castle, you will be given the opportunity to create your own Easter Island sculpture using a variation of waste materials. How big is your head?

Wharton Park Bunny School

Have you got what it takes to become an Easter bunny? Then it is time for you to enrol in Bunny School!

Running on Thursday April 11th and 18th, children will take part in a series of egg-citing challenges including how to decorate eggs, how to work with bunnies and chicks and how to deliver eggs to children around the world.

There is also a chance meet real bunnies and to pet, feed and learn all about them. Booking is essential – call 03000 262 655.

Great North Steam Fair – Beamish Museum

If fluffy bunnies and egg hunts aren’t your bag, from April 11th to 14th, an amazing collection of steam locomotives, motor vehicles and road steam vehicles will gather at Beamish Museum for the annual Great North Steam Fair.

Mad Hatter Hairband Workshop followed by Afternoon Tea – Lanchester
