Our Unsung Hero

Posted on 21st January 2025

If there was an ‘Unsung Hero’ award at Venture Properties, there’d be no doubt who would walk away with the accolade. Kim Smith, our Accounts Manager, works quietly and conscientiously from home but has a huge amount of responsibility and does a job nobody else could do!

Prior to joining Venture in July 2016, she worked for 20 years with another property management company in a very similar role, looking after landlord and client accounts. She also managed the block management aspect of the business, organised repairs, produced budget forecasts and attended Annual General Meetings across various developments.

A typical day at Venture for Kim includes downloading the previous day’s payments, processing them and releasing funds to the various landlords and contractors we work with. This is on top of replying to the (many!) emails from all of our branches and helping with any queries from clients and staff.

Kim doesn’t suffer fools gladly and if the books don’t balance to the very last penny, someone will be in trouble!

If her day-to-day work isn’t busy enough, the end of each month and the end of each financial year is especially hectic for Kim. At the end of the month she fully reconciles every single client’s account across all of our branches and produces a trial balance to ensure our records balance to the individual accounts. At the end of the financial year, she also provides our clients with end of year tax statements.

It’s not all work, work, work for Kim, though. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dog as well as the odd spiced rum or two to wind down.

Thank you, Kim, for all your hard work. You work here at Venture is invaluable.
