A few months ago we welcomed Winnie, our new drone, to the team. Why Winnie I hear you ask? Well, Matthew (our in-house drone pilot) was practising one day with his 3-year-old son who, out of nowhere, decided to call the drone Winnie and so the name has stuck now.
(Matthew now insists on staff calling him Maverick and coming to work in a Biggles jacket - he’s taken it all very seriously).
Weighing in at just 249g, it might be light but it packs a whole lot of technology into its small frame. Ultra 4K videos shot in landscape or portrait, as well as high resolution photos, makes it the perfect addition for marketing properties.
It’s not just a fantastic camera the drone has, there’s a host of other amazing features - obstacle avoidance, return to home and object tracking to name just a few.
Since we’ve started offering our drone packages, we’ve noticed those properties that have taken part have generally sold quickly and had more interest. Even an external photo taken by a drone naturally grabs people’s attention more when looking online as the property immediately stands out from the crowd.
If you’re thinking a drone would only be worthwhile on large detached properties with plenty of land, think again. They can work really well for a range of different properties. Good examples would be a semi-detached property with lovely gardens or even a terrace property with fields to the back which isn’t overlooked. We can even use the drone to photograph and film the location nearby as well, such as village greens or rivers.
In terms of when the drone can be used, generally it needs to be clear of rain and not too windy for it to operate safely. If we needed to cancel because of the weather we would aim to get the appointment booked back in as soon as possible.
