Kylie Lawrence and Hope Macdonald form the perfect partnership when it comes to getting lets on the board at our Darlington office. Keeping Venture at the top of the table year-on-year for as long as we can remember, they play an absolutely key role in our success.
Landlords and tenants often start their journey with Venture either speaking to Kylie or Hope. They are responsible for booking in valuations and viewings, chasing for feedback and negotiating and agreeing lets before then passing it on to our referencing team and eventually Property Management if the property is managed or the landlord, if they manage it themselves.
To be successful in this role you have to have an approachable and friendly personality who people enjoy dealing with. The volume of work we deal with on a weekly basis is always extremely high so multi-tasking is also a must – answering the phone, dealing with clients in the office, responding to emails, negotiating lets and liaising with other departments is just some of the tasks they’ll do each day.
Kylie joined us in 2017 after relocating to Darlington from Sheffield, where she went to university. Originally from a village near Hull, Kylie was originally employed as a part-time Administrator for our Sales team but impressed so much that she was offered the Lettings Negotiator job on a full-time basis. Despite having no prior property experience, she learned the role quickly and soon became an integral member of the team. Kylie is very funny and has a very upbeat manner that keeps clients returning to Venture.
Of her time at Venture, Kylie says, “Over the past 7 years I have really enjoyed my time working for Venture. No two days are the same and you deal with such a variety of clients which keeps you on your toes.”
In her spare time Kylie enjoys swimming, walking her two dogs and relaxing with a Vino and book.
Leeds University graduate, Hope, joined us one week before the first lockdown in March 2020 and despite a couple of months of uncertainty, she was roaring to go when we returned to work in May. Naturally very confident, Hope settled in without any issues after coming to us from a background in recruitment. Finding people jobs transferred over to finding people properties very smoothly. Hope’s self-assured manner, attention to detail and great sense of humour has seen her become a smash hit at Venture. Together with Kylie they have become a formidable and unbeatable team.
Of her time at Venture, Hope says, “There are so many positive things about working here. Everyone works really hard but there’s also a lovely feel to the office and we always have a good laugh too, which is so important. The last 4 years feel like they have flown by!"
In her spare time Hope enjoys spending time with her cockapoo, Barney, planning her wedding (in case you didn't know!) and catching up with friends.
