Add a splash of Summer to your sale
If you’re looking to put your house on the market, this season can be a real asset- taking advantage of the blue skies and sunshine increases your chance of success! Here at Venture, we’ve compiled a list of five top tips to help you breathe Summer into your property, making it more inviting to prospective buyers.
Winter- out of sight, out of mind
When the evenings are gloomy and chilly, many of us enjoy bringing out thick throws, fluffy cushions and space heaters. Extra furnishings might create a cosy atmosphere in the Winter months, but in Summer, packing them away allows you to embrace the warmer weather. In order to make your home seem attractive, you can take inspiration from the sunny spaciousness outside the window.
Leaf them wanting more
“Bringing the outside in” is a common tip when trying to make a house more attractive, and it is even more important during Summer. Plants keep the air inside your home fresh, and filter pollutants to minimise health risks including allergies and asthma. Blooms and buds within the home can create an organic, relaxing feel. However, don’t worry if you aren’t particularly green-thumbed; artificial blooms (or “air plants”, like Tillandsias) will achieve the same ambience with minimal effort!
Keep it bright
A lick of paint is typically recommended when you plan to sell- in fact, it’s immensely important when you’re trying to capture some sunshine. Yellow and orange inject energy, while making use of neutrals like white and beige (especially with a satin finish) will reflect sunlight, making every room seem fresh and spacious. Your colour choice will form the basis of many first impressions, so it’s important to think carefully about your palette and where you intend to use it.
Smell the roses
We’ve all heard the adage about brewing coffee and baking bread before a viewing; scent is a powerful tool when choosing how to best present your house. A vase of flowers, especially gardenias and other bright blossoms, is a way to keep a room smelling fresh. Bringing essential oils and candles into play also allows you to appeal to all your visitors’ senses, particularly if you choose seasonal favourites; clean linen and sea salt, for instance. After all, who wouldn’t want to buy a house that reminds them of summers on the beach?
Spring Summer clean
It goes without saying that your house should be tidy and free of clutter when you have a viewing. Once the property is painted, smelling inviting and complete with beautiful plants, it’s a good idea to minimise the ornaments and furniture you have laying around. This will to allow your summery finishing touches to shine.
Overall, breathing Summer into your property is only ever a good thing- warmth, sunshine and nature are all tools at your disposal when you decide to sell your home.
